In Year 6 this term, our topic is Darwin’s Delight. We have been learning about evolution, adaptation and offspring. We have plotted Darwin’s journey on the Beagle and what he discovered on the Galapagos Island. We have also looked at how humans have evolved, taking part in a national science investigation through the BBC’s terrific science. Measuring each other’s feet, we are helping scientists to determine if people who live in the countryside have more flexibility in their feet than those in the city. Our results will be assessed along with thousands of other schools to help with real research.
As part of our topic, we will be visiting Bradgate Park on an educational visit looking at classifying animals—fingers crossed for some great weather. In English, we have been discussing whether zoos should be banned. We have considered both sides of the debate and evaluated how zoos from the across the world treat the animals and offer conservation opportunities.
What do you think? Are zoos good or bad?
