Advisory Board

Board of Governors

Welcome to the Advisory Board of Woolden Hill Primary School

As part of a multi-academy trust, schools are no longer required to have a traditional Board of Governors and more and more schools, both within Discovery Schools Academies Trust and nationally, are adopting the Advisory Board structure.

The aim of the Woolden Hill Primary School Advisory Board is to ensure that the ethos of the school is maintained and the school complies with Trust directives and schemes of delegation. It is also their role to work in partnership with the Headteacher and support them with the development of the school, ensure children are safe, and that performance of the school is reviewed regularly. The Advisory Board is not a legal entity in its own right, as the Board of Governors was, and members of the Advisory Board do not have the legal responsibilities of Governors. Legal liability remains with Discovery Schools Academies Trust and the trust’s Board of Directors, who are ultimately responsible for the running of the school.

Message from the Chair of the Advisory Board

"Welcome to Woolden Hill Primary School. My name is Sujay Lavingia; I am married and the father to one boy who attends Woolden Hill. I first volunteered to be a Parent Governor in January 2015 and became Chair of the Advisory Board Members in September 2016.

Woolden Hill is an exciting school, where I truly believe our children can live up to the Schools motto – “Achieving success, creating futures together”.

I very much look forward to working with the School, Parents and the wider community to ensure that everyone is safe in school and the children’s learning potential is reached."
