About Us - Aims & Mission Statement

Woolden Hill Primary School is an Ofsted Rated Good School (November 2019) in the village of Anstey. The school is a one form entry primary school that has an intake of 30 pupils for each class. The school has been open for over 40 years. In that time we have gained a well respected reputation throughout the area for delivering fantastic results and giving children the best possible start in life. We pride ourselves on our high standards of teaching; ensuring the our children receive the best possible education as well as have an enjoyable school experience.

We are very lucky to have a fantastic school environment for our pupils and excellent outdoor learning opportunities such as our own pond, Forest School and even Bradgate Park as our neighbour!

Route to Resiliance

We are a Nationally recognised Route to Resilience School. This means that our curriculum supports children’s development of the characteristics of effective learning. Our topics allow children to reflect on their strengths and how they can develop their character further. This helps to prepare our children for the next stage of education and aspire for great things as adults.

Our characteristics are:

  • Hope
  • Kindness
  • Curiosity
  • Love of Learning
  • Perseverance
  • Self-Control
  • Gratitude
  • Empathy
  • Respect
  • Honesty
  • Teamwork
  • Independence

In our school we have Character Champions. These children help to promote these characteristics to others in other parts of the school day, such as lunchtimes.

Being a Discovery School

Woolden Hill is proud to be an academy school that is part of Discovery Schools Trust.

Discovery Schools Trust is a partnership of 13 like-minded schools who work together to provide a first class education for the 4500 pupils it serves. The Trust spans across Leicestershire; from Melton Mowbray to Rutland. We are also fortunate to include Country and City schools in the Trust which helps to ensure that we hear about the best opportunities and practise on offer.

Benefits of the Trust

Being in the Trust allows Woolden Hill to collaborate and research into the best practise in Teaching and Learning. This helps our teachers to apply innovative practise from this country and other world leading countries and ensure that our pupils are provided with the very best curriculum and resources available.

We also have access to our very own Educational Welfare team through EPIC services. This provides Educational Psychology and Speech and Language Therapy services to our school to ensure that our pupils are well catered for if they require additional support.

Finally, our children are offered a wealth of opportunities from being a part of Discovery Schools Trust. Pupil conferences in Computing, Science and Maths; sporting events; Bake Offs and many other experiences help to enrich our school offer even further. We even have our annual Awards Night held at the Walkers Stadium to celebrate pupil success!
